BLACK BOOK : John Barry (3 November 1933 to 31 January 2011)
John Barry died. He was 77 and died of a heart attack. It was one of the greatest composers of film music. Since the announcement of this terrible loss, I dive back into his work by picking here and there pieces of his vast discography ... For emotion, for memory ... To also realize that its contribution to the 7th Art is simply enormous. John the romantic movies that each subject had the opportunity to offer a "score" often an overwhelming lyricism. I think I've never paid much that tears listening to film music composed by John Barry. And then, hearing the news of his death, I cry even more, saying that a great artist just disappeared ...
Let us therefore pay tribute to the outstanding composer and also to his great qualities of orchestrators, whose style is instantly recognizable. Beyond its classic as he wrote to the saga of Agent 007, but OUT OF AFRICA or A LION IN WINTER (For which he won two of his five Oscars!), Here's a selection of music among my favorite works by this author. And always with the feeling that titillates the senses ... John Barry is also writing poetry! Superb! Goodbye, Mr. Barry ...
