Happy Valentine's Day. Beyond this awful commercial holiday, it is of course the celebration of Love! And why is nothing better than to remember with emotion how the talent of the late John Hughes we lack to capture perfectly the emotional torment of youth through the many films in which he participated as a writer.
On this day, I think mostly LOVE TO THE (Some Kind Of Wonderful) by Howard Deutch (1987) ... A sentimental story triangular where the young man played by Eric Stolz falls in love with a girl who does not even notice, bearing the traits of Lea Thompson. But this blindness makes him lose the pedals so that he does not even realize that her best friend, the lovely Mary Stuart Masterson, literally crack it. Ah, the feeling is still very complicated. Their first kiss, the look innocuous and in anticipation of a seduction on the other person desired is a moment of pure cinematic bliss. A feast for the eyes and especially for the heart. Happy Valentine's Day!
